A luge accident survivor is on her way to one of the best spinal rehab hospitals in the country.

The News on 6 first told you about Stacy Allen last week. Stacy is one of the world's top ranked competitors in street luging. On July 24th, she was on a run with her boyfriend, when she ran off the highway and into some woods. The accident has left Stacy paralyzed from the waist down.

Thursday, Allen is on her way to Craig Hospital in Denver, where she will begin a two month stint of extensive rehab. Family and friends held up signs and sent well wishes as an upbeat Stacy was loaded onto a plane. They say Stacy's smile is not just an attempt to boost morale, she really is a fighter.

Stacy’s boyfriend Bill Smrtic: “doctors were impressed with how much healing she was doing and how fast especially with her wrist injury. I think three days later she had actually pulled her on cast off and the pin and plate in her wrist is actually something he has invented.”

Stacy now has full mobility of her wrist. She's able to movie her fingers and write. She says she's not going to stop there. Stacy vows to walk again someday.
