PERRY, Okla. (AP) -- Members of the Perry City Council put off a decision to fire the police chief.
City Attorney Bryce Kennedy says council members delayed their decision on Police Chief Bob Tippett because he could not attend Monday night's meeting.
Council members have delayed their decision on the police chief's employment twice since July, when Mayor Estell Emde placed him on indefinite paid administrative leave.
Tippett has been the subject of an ongoing inquiry.
Emde and other city officials haven't said why Tippett was placed on administrative leave.
Kennedy says the specifics will be made public after the council makes its decision.
