Trees damaged by the storm caused several accidents, including one that killed a man.
A tree stump at 56th and Peoria is all that's left of a large tree that fell Saturday night. The tree fell on a pickup and crushed the driver, killing him. People who live nearby say the tree was damaged and should have been cut down years ago.
Even though the tree was close to the street, the city determined it was on private property. Bob Bledsoe with the city of Tulsa Public Works Department: "Just because the tree might lie on city right of way, it's still private property; it's still the responsibility of the property owner, just as the grass in the yard is."
A Tulsa arborist tells the News on 6 most of the damage he's seen from this weekend was to trees damaged by prior storms.
He suggests people have their large trees checked every couple of years.
