Recent controversy surrounding Tulsa Public Schools has sparked rumors about the district's leader.

Some have questioned how long Superintendent Doctor David Sawyer will stick around. So the News on 6 did some checking. Sawyer is in the last year of his contract and he says he will retire from education in June. He wrote in an e-mail he plans to fulfill his obligations.

Dr Sawyer also points out he would not be eligible for several bonuses, if he left the district early.

Tulsa Public Schools plan to start a search for a new superintendent in the next couple of months.
