BEGGS, Okla. (AP) -- Four people are dead and one is critically injured following an overnight collision involving a car and three motorcycles in Okmulgee County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the collision occurred about 10:15 Monday night on State Highway 16 near Beggs killing Leonard Powdrill of Okmulgee, Scherryl Alexander of Haskell and Lynn Irby and James Carlock of Sapulpa.

Troopers say Powdrill and Alexander were westbound in a car driven by Powdrill when it ran off the right side of the road, then went into a broadslide and crossed the centerline.

Troopers say the cycles driven by Irby and Carlock crashed into the passenger side of the car. A third cycle also crashed after swerving to avoid the car and the driver is hospitalized in Tulsa in critical condition.
