Commuters, lawn mowers, and bus drivers are on alert again Tuesday. Tulsa’s Ozone Alert Monday makes 7 so far this summer and Tuesday will be day 8.
News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says air quality monitors say Tuesday will be another Ozone Alert day. Tulsa only had 3 Ozone Alerts last year.
Of course, Tulsa Transit's cheap bus ride program was in effect Monday. Folks can take the bus anywhere for just 50 cents. A few "new" riders are taking Tulsa buses in Broken Arrow. This is the first day for a brand new route, making public transportation more available for residents in Oklahoma's fifth largest city.
The Broken Arrow bus runs both on a fixed route and takes reservations for special stops. Ozone watchers say every person who opts to park their car and take the bus helps keep Tulsa's air clean.
INCOG Air Quality manager Nancy Graham: "Adding additional stops can only benefit the air, and those people who use it are helping the air directly by using public transportation."
Tulsa and Broken Arrow bus rides will cost just 50 cents again Tuesday.
