CLAREMORE, Okla. (AP) -- The general manager of Will Rogers Downs says the Claremore track has applied for 42 racing days next year.
General Manager Mark Enterline says track officials are hoping to run races from the end of February through the end of May. He says Will Rogers Downs is working with other race tracks to make sure they aren't overlapping race dates.
The track has 12 planned race days beginning this November. Enterline says the track is about three weeks from completing remodeling work. The track is enclosing its shed rows, rebuilding barn stalls and putting down new clay.
Officials say they expect a sovereignty waiver issue to be resolved by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission's meeting in two weeks.
Enterline expects Will Rogers Downs to be open for gaming and simulcasting in four to five weeks.
