It was a quite a battle of the "beats" in Broken Arrow Tuesday night. Seven of the country's top drum corps met on the high school field Tuesday night for the Drums of Summer competition.

It's a combination of music, dance and tough competition. Corps members practice six to nine hours a day for three months in the summer sun. It's all pain that melts away come performance time.

Competitor Phillip Richardson: "It makes everything worth it to know there are people out there who enjoy what I'm doing and give it back with applause."

Competitor Lauren Kieling: "When the crowd just stands up and starts screaming for you at the end it is awesome."

Now each corps waits to hear their final score. The top group goes on to the world championship in Massachusetts.
