OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A former Oklahoma Highway trooper says he'll never forget the day he arrested Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.
Charlie Hanger, now sheriff of Noble County, shared the details of when he took McVeigh into custody at the Oklahoma National Memorial Museum yesterday. The discussion was part of the museum's ``First Person: Stories of Hope'' series.
As a state trooper Hanger says he pulled McVeigh over for a missing license plate about an hour after the April 19th, 1995, explosion.
He says he saw McVeigh was armed after asking him to step out of the car in routine procedure.
Hanger says he still wonders why McVeigh didn't kill him that day. He says he believes it was divine intervention.
McVeigh was charged and convicted in the bombing of the Alfred -P- Murrah Federal Building that killed 168 people and injured more than 800.
