OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Nine counties in southeastern and south-central Oklahoma are under a Red Flag Fire Alert because of continuing dry conditions.
The department of Forestry Services issued the alert Friday for Choctaw, Haskell, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, Pittsburg and Pushmataha counties in southeastern Oklahoma and for Love and Jefferson counties in south-central Oklahoma.
Forestry officials say extreme caution should be used with any outdoor burning and outdoor burning should be avoided when wind speeds are above 20 miles per hour.
