GROVE, Okla. (AP) _ Residents of Grove are struggling to maintain a small-town feel despite overwhelming growth.
New residents are flocking to the town because of breathtaking views and cheap land along Grand Lake, which surrounds the town on three sides.
Grove Mayor Carolyn Nuckolls says Grand Lake is one of the few communities in the nation that allows homes to be built so close to the shoreline. The shoreline around the lake is privately owned.
The city recently built an $8.5 million sewage plant to keep up with demand. And a new high school was built in 2000 and was too small before it opened.
Of Delaware County's 25,000 to 30,000 residents, about 6,000 live within the Grove city limits.
