MIAMI, Okla. (AP) -- A woman from Canada and a man from Greece have been killed in a traffic accident on the Will Rogers Turnpike in Ottawa County in far northeastern Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Monday says 28-year-old Maria Chriseou of Toronto and 35-year-old John Pangeratis of Tripoli, Greece, were killed Sunday when a tire blew out on the van and caused it to crash.
The highway patrol says Chriseou and Pangeratis were both thrown from the 1991 Ford Aerostar as it ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and rolled one and a half times.
The van's driver and third passenger were taken to a Joplin, Missouri, hospital in serious condition.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the van's occupants were not wearing seat belts.
