OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state department of forestry services is issuing a Red Flag Fire Alert for 29 counties in southern and southeastern Oklahoma.
Forestry officials say the fire danger is very high because of hot temperatures, low humidity and dry conditions. Outdoor burning should be avoided if winds are more than 20 miles per hour.
The alert is not a burning ban, but extreme caution should be used when burning or using fireworks.
The alert is for Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Coal, Comanche, Cotton, Garvin, Grady, Haskell, Hughes, Jefferson, Johnston, Kiowa, Latimer, Le Flore, Love, McClain, McCurtain, McIntosh, Marshall, Murray, Muskogee, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Pushmataha, Seminole, Stephens and Tillman counties.
