OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Records show the Oklahoma Democratic Party is nearly $500,000 in debt.
Filings with the Federal Election Commission show the party also failed to pay its employees while accumulating debts under former chairman Jay Parmley.
FEC filings show the party owes more than $17,000 to the Oklahoma Tax Commission and another $13,000 to the IRS.
The state party's biggest single debt is more than $106,000 owed to AT&T for cell phone services. SBC is also owed $32,000 for phone service.
Current chairman Lisa Pryor says she had no knowledge of the large debt owed by the party when she was elected in May to take over as party chair.
