OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A protest by SBC Oklahoma over the amount of property taxes it should pay has schools across the state uncertain about how much money they'll have.
SBC is putting its estimated property taxes in an escrow account that won't be paid until the protests are resolved.
The telephone company is protesting both last year and this year's estimates by the state Tax Commission of the value of SBC property. The commission says SBC had property worth $1.9-billion last year and worth $2.5-billion this year.
Two years ago SBC's property was valued at just under $1.5-billion and the company paid about $30-million in taxes.
