WASHINGTON (AP) -- US Representative Tom Cole says he and a group of Congress members plan to tour the US detention facility in Guantanamo Bay.

Cole says the prison at Guantanamo Bay is a vital facility in gathering intelligence and holding high-profile and dangerous combatants.

Cole says he takes any allegation of prisoner abuse very seriously and would like to get a first-person view of what happens at Guantanamo.

Cole says the group would be led by California Republican Duncan Hunter who also is Chairman of the House and Armed Services Committee.
