Parents at Edison High School are fighting for something students there have never had before, home field advantage. But that's not settling well with neighbors.
The parents want a new football stadium included in the district’s next bond proposal. Currently, the Edison Eagles share a stadium with Memorial High School. Supporters say the stadium would be used for football, soccer, and field hockey and would help Edison compete with other local schools. Stadium supporter Leo Williams: "It's a simple design, small, keeping in tune with the neighborhood and not overpowering the site or the school campus itself."
Stadium opponent William O'Meilia: "To stick something like that in our back yard, literally in my back yard because there's only a fence between the properties." William O'Meilia built his midtown home before Edison High even existed. He says he and his neighbors don't want a stadium next door.
Stadium supporters will rally at the school board meeting on July 18.
