LEXINGTON, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board is recommending the release of a Catoosa woman who killed a classmate when she was 14.
An investigator recommended Robin Ratliff be paroled because of her age at the time of the crime and her good conduct in prison. The recommendation that now 26-year-old Ratliff be released goes to Governor Henry.
Ratliff was sentenced to life in prison for the 1993 shooting death of 13-year-old Michelle Baccus at Ratliff's home.
Ratliff has said she didn't know the gun was loaded when she pulled the trigger.
Rogers County prosecutor Gene Haynes and Baccus' mother and sister oppose releasing Ratliff. Haynes says he believes the killing was premeditated and is concerned that Ratliff is dangerous.
Ratliff would live in Catoosa with her grandmother if she's released.
