OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Board of Equalization said Monday the state has more than $23-million available as lawmakers prepare to go into special session.
Governor Brad Henry called the session to provide more money for the Department of Corrections to hire prison guards and to for the state's Centennial Commission to pay for projects leading up to the 100th anniversary of statehood in 2007.
The governor says he'll meet with legislative leaders to try to agree on how the money should be spent and says prison guards and centennial projects are still his priorities.
During the final days of the regular session in May, Henry pushed for $30-million for centennial projects and $12-million to hire more prison guards.
