TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A memorial service is planned Friday for retired Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board director Ray H. Page.

Page died Sunday in Tulsa after a long illness. He was 84.

Page was born in Delaware, Okla., and was appointed to appointed Assistant Commissioner of Public Safety by Gov. J. Howard Edmondson in 1959. Within three months, he was appointed commissioner.

Gov. Henry Bellmon appointed Page as warden of the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, where he served for nine years before entering private business in 1971. He joined the state Pardon and Parole Board in 1988.

``He was very dedicated, both as a director and board member,'' said Juanita Lozier, an administrative programs officer for the board. ``He was a very fair man who knew how to delegate duties.''

Page's wife, Josephine D. Page, died in March.

``He cared a lot about her. I didn't think he would last long without her,'' Lozier said.
