School district joins 24/7 tobacco-free policy

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Tobacco-free policies will soon be in effect at 42 Oklahoma school districts.

The 24-7 policies prohibit tobacco use on school grounds within a district.

Smoking isn't allowed at school functions off campus, as well.

Midwest City-Del Public Schools is the 42nd school district to adopt the policy. It will take effect July 1st.

There are 540 school districts in Oklahoma. Lawton was the first school district to adopt the tobacco-free policy. Other districts include Tulsa, Edmond, Enid, Deer Creek and Norman.
