The Tulsa Fire Department now has better access to the Arkansas River, thanks to this new boat ramp near 64th and Riverside.
Before now, fire crews had to search for a place to back the boat into the water, sometimes having to manually carry it down to the water's edge.
The new ramp gives fire crews better access to all areas of the river in the event of a rescue. Tulsa Fire district chief Eddie Bell: "There's just so much area, south of 31st, putting boat in, attempting to rescue in timely fashion."
City of Tulsa public works employees helped build the ramp.
The ramp is not open to the public and it will be kept gated and locked.
