OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Officials with the Oklahoma City Parks Department are trying to discourage people from using motorized vehicles on the new jogging and cycling trails along the Oklahoma River.
The City Council outlawed motorized vehicles on the trails in April, but parks officials have received complaints that people with all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles and even pickup trucks have been using the trails.
Spokeswoman Kristy Potter says the Parks Department is worried the motorized vehicles will scare users from using the four-and-a-half (m) million-dollar trail.
After getting several complaints, the parks department is working with police to educate people about the rules. Police Chief Bill Citty has also proposed using a mounted patrol unit along the trails.
