A Tulsa school is celebrating its largest graduating class in school history. It was standing room only at Street School's graduation Thursday night.

There are 38 students in the class of 2005. That's about a dozen more students than the alternative program usually graduates and the program's director says each one has overcome a lot to get their diplomas.

18 year old Nathan Collins: “the teachers actually saw me for who I was and then I could see them for who they were. And it wasn’t just another grade or test."

Street School director Lori McGinnis: “so many of them are really doing this on their own and they are resilient and they keep plugging away at it no matter what life has thrown at them."

Some people think alternative school means sub-par, but that's not the case at Street School. The program has earned state and national honors for excellence.
