OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Continental Airlines flight 216 from Houston to Minneapolis diverted to Oklahoma City Thursday morning after flight attendants smelled smoke in the galley.
Will Rogers World Airport spokeswoman Karen Carney says the 737 landed shortly after 9 AM and no injuries are reported. She says there were 75 people on board the plane.
Carney says airport and Oklahoma City firefighters found no evidence of fire inside the plane and maintenance workers at the airport now believe the odor was caused by a cleaning fluid in the galley.
Carney says Continental officials are now examining the plane to determine if it's safe to continue the flight, but have called for another jet in case problems are found. She says if the second jet is used it could carry about 50 people and the remaining passengers would be booked on other Continental flights from Oklahoma City to Minneapolis.
