OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state House Thursday voted 96-to-2 for a bill providing an additional $170-million a year to repair and maintain the state's road and bridges.
The bill now goes to the state Senate where approval is expected.
Transportation officials say more than 3,000 of Oklahoma's more than 12,000 miles of highway need to be repaired or replace. And about 1,600 of the more than 6,700 bridges are either deficient or obsolete.
A bridge over the Salt For of the Red River in Jackson County collapsed last month. No one was injured. Last year a Texas woman was killed when a chunk of concrete fell from an overpass into her car as she drove on Interstate 35 south of Oklahoma City.
