A research project by some Skiatook students proves fruitful for all Oklahomans. A fifth grade class discovered Oklahoma didn't have an official state fruit.
They held a school election and the strawberry won. Then the students found a lawmaker to sponsor them.
State legislators approved the strawberry and sent the bill on to Governor Brad Henry, who signed it Thursday.
