Mayfest kicked off Thursday in downtown Tulsa and festival organizers are hoping for record crowds.
They are particularly excited because the renovation of Main Street is complete, and they can focus most all the activities along main between 3rd and 6th. The festival opened Thursday morning and by lunch time the streets were filled with folks looking at all the art on display and looking for lunch.
Some of the artists like Tulsan Kevin Byrne were putting the finishing touches on their displays. He says he likes the new layout this year. "It's not like an octopus with a little over here and a little over here. It's organized in a good way from an artist’s standpoint." He says having it all lined up along one street gives festival goers a good feel for the whole thing with just one look.
Mayfest is about art and music and there is a great line up on three stages all weekend including of course Hanson the big headliner Friday night on the main stage at 3rd and Cincinnati.
