OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A Piedmont widower is seeking more than $10,000 in damages from an Oklahoma City pharmacist accused of providing the prescription drugs on which the man's wife fatally overdosed.
In a lawsuit filed Friday, Leland W. Powers accused pharmacist James Swaim of illegally providing drugs like hydromorphone, OxyContin and diazepam to his wife, Creta Powers.
Moore Pharmacy Management and Buy For Less Pharmacy also were named as defendants in the lawsuit. Swaim owned and operated the Buy For Less Pharmacy.
Prosecutors charged Swaim on April 15th with second-degree murder for allegedly providing more than 86-thousand dollars in prescription drugs to Creta Powers.
Leland Powers' attorney claims his client didn't know his wife was being given drugs prior to her death.
Swaim is scheduled to be arraigned on the murder charge May 16th.
