A Rogers County paramedic stabbed by a man earlier this month, talks publicly for the first time.

News on 6 anchor Craig Day says even though she is still in a wheelchair and still very weak, Emily O'Banion is moved up to the microphones to talk about a day she'll never forget. "He immediately put a knife into my stomach. And he put his hand over my mouth and he said that, he asked for me to give him morphine."

O'Banion works for the Oologah-Talala Emergency Medical Service District. She says 45 year old Allen Weddle was the one asking for morphine and stabbed her several times. He is currently being held in the Rogers County jail.

O'Banion says when she couldn't immediately get to the locked up morphine, the man threatened to harm her partner Kelly Berry, who was asleep inside the emergency medical service building. "Right then and there I just dug my feet inside the concrete. And he finished stabbing me."

The 24 year old mother of two, then collapsed. Her partner heard the commotion and came to her aid. Partner Kelly Berry: "I didn't know what to think. I was scared to death. But I just did what my partner needed me to do for her."

For now, O'Banion is undergoing physical therapy to restore lost movement in her left leg and hand. She thanks everyone for their prayers and concern. "I never knew I knew so many people. It looks like I've opened up a florist shop in my room." O'Banion says she looks forward to getting home to her children and vows she'll return to work.

O'Banion says she had been threatened by the man in the past. She says she doesn't have any bitterness toward him, but O'Banion says she does want justice in the case.
