With the high price tag on a gallon of gasoline these days, many people are looking for cheaper alternatives. And one of those is compressed natural gas or CNG.
Morris Auto Sales off Highway 62 in Okmulgee County is getting a lot of double takes when drivers see the sign that reads "89 cents a gallon".
Salesman Russ Casey says more people should consider using CNG. "I think they think we're maybe trying to pull a scam on them, but man what it is really is the best kept secret in the state."
Casey says the CNG vehicles burn cleaner and the fuel isn't as hard on engines as gasoline. You get the same mileage per gallon as gasoline. But you have to give up trunk space. Natural gas is offered at more than 50 stations across Oklahoma.
The state also offers tax incentives for driving a natural gas powered vehicle.
