IDABEL, Okla. (AP) -- A McCurtain County man admits that he killed his 12-year-old stepdaughter and then took authorities to the spot where he said he buried her.
Danny Taylor was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in the McCurtain County Courthouse in the July 1999 killing of Crystal Kindrick. He instead pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. His plea was part of an agreement to reduce charges from first-degree murder.
Taylor was interviewed by agents of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and then led officers to a wooded area where he said he buried his stepdaughter in a shallow grave.
Crystal was missing until 2002 when a turkey hunter found a fragment of her skull near Broken Bow, a quarter-mile from the home of Taylor's uncle.
Prosecutors say Taylor confessed that he either pushed or hit Crystal, who fell and hit her head against a television. He then buried her.
