A Tulsa teenager survived a shooting Sunday, but has a story to tell about surprising a burglar, with a gun, in his garage.
News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan talked exclusively with the victim and says 17 year old Jo-el Wilson - a high school sophomore - was looking for his cat in the garage Sunday morning. He found a man with a gun and as quickly as he realized someone was in the garage - the man shot him and took off. It happened so fast - Wilson didn't even realize he had been shot until he went inside and called for help.
The bullet passed though his abdomen, through a wall and into the chimney of the house. It didn't hit anything vital - so he's going to be OK - he was more worried that something might happen to his 5 year old brother. Jo'el Wilson: "I was just worried about my little brother, I didn't want him to know what happened, something just told me to leave him in the back room."
The shooting suspect is a black man, 6 foot 1, 190 lbs, wearing a dark colored bandana on his head. He was last seen with at least one other accomplice near 66th and Troost.
Tulsa Police need some tips to find the shooter. The number to Crimestoppers is 596-COPS.
