EDMOND, Okla.--April 23, 2005--Thanks to a friend's nomination and votes from the general public, a decorated veteran of the Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom drove away in a new car today.

Army Staff Sergeant James A. Mitchell was selected online by the general public to receive the second of four new cars to be given away by Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge, and Edmond Kia/Edmond Hyundai. Over 12,000 individuals visited the site to cast their votes.

Mitchell, who is stationed at Ft. Sill, is married and has three daughters. His current assignment is with the 1st Battalion, 290th Regiment, where he trains Army Reserve and National Guard units in preparation for their deployment to Iraq. During his 15+ years of military service he has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Combat Medical Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.

According to Mitchell's wife Jo Anne, ``He has been a great soldier, but has always put family first. He does without himself because his family and country always come first.''

``We wanted to show our support for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and other places around the world,'' said Richard Howard, sales manager for Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge and a U.S. Army veteran. ``We thought this would be a great way to let their families know we are thinking of them.''

According to Howard, Tuesday will kick-off the dealerships' third car give-away. Information on four new military families will be posted online. The public is invited to read about each family and then vote for the family who they think should win the car.
