A kidnapping scare at a Broken Arrow elementary school ends with an arrest. Broken Arrow Police were called to Liberty Elementary School Wednesday morning.
They say former school employee Elizabeth Eck[pictured] tried to kidnap a 10-year-old student. The boy got away unhurt, and Eck was arrested by police near 51st Street and 145th East Avenue.
Many parents are applauding the way the Liberty school staff and Broken Arrow Police handled the situation. The school immediately put the building on lock down and called police.
Tiauna Carnes has two children who attend Liberty Elementary. She's thankful the situation was handled smoothly. "They did an excellent job keeping that child safe and making sure the other children at the school were safe as well." In a letter to parents, the school says "the safety and well-being of students is the first priority."
The school's south doors will now be locked at all times. The school will also require parents to check children in and out with an employee.
