Some TU students are showing off a few of their new inventions. About 40 senior mechanical engineering students presented their final projects Wednesday.

There was a mini-Baja car, a kinetic art exhibit using hundreds of dominoes, and a mechanical proto-type valve for oil wells.

TU mechanical engineering professor Steve Tipton: "Each one of these are sponsored by real cash paying sponsors. There was initially 11 or 12 projects pitched to the students and the students picked what they thought would be the most exciting to work on. The budget for these projects range, the smallest budget is $5,000 and another project was a $20,000 project."

The students' mini-Baja car will compete in a 100 mile race in Tucson, Arizona in June.
