OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state Senate Wednesday approved a bill to expand the law against threatening or obscene phone calls to include cell phones, text messaging, e-mails and other forms of communication.
State Senator Ted Fisher says cell phones, e-mail and text and instant messaging weren't imagined when the state originally passed laws against threatening phone calls. He says the bill helps protect the public against new forms of harassment.
A similar bill has already passed the House and the measure now goes to a state House-Senate conference committee, then will be sent back to the state House and state Senate for a final vote.
