OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Attorney General Drew Edmondson is asking the Oklahoma Supreme Court Thursday to convene a new multicounty grand jury for 18 months.
The request included papers filed under seal that outline the scope and objectives of the grand jury as well as the nature of probable investigations.
Grand jury proceedings are conducted confidentially.
The previous grand jury adjourned on February 23rd. It focused much of its attention on the investigation of former state Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher.
The grand jury returned eight indictments naming three defendants on 11 separate counts in the investigation.
Indicted were Fisher, former assistant Opal Ellis and the Fisher Foundation. Fisher resigned in September before he was removed from office and is charged with embezzlement, operating a charity illegally, perjury, bribery and filing a false income tax return.
