MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- An investigator with the Muskogee County District Attorney's Office escaped serious injury after being shot while serving a search warrant in Muskogee Tuesday morning.
Sam Taylor was shot in the abdomen about 11:15 Tuesday morning, but the bullet was stopped by the bulletproof vest he was wearing as investigators and sheriff's deputies served a warrant to search for drugs at the home of Ron Sinan and Kyasia Collins.
Muskogee County Chief Deputy Darrin Smith says Sinan started shooting as the officers went through the door, but dropped his gun after seeing he shot a police officer.
Smith says a large amount of marijuana was found inside the home and the couple's 20-month-old daughter was taken into state custody.
Police say Sinan and Collins were both arrested for possession and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and more charges are expected.
