Broken Arrow schools think they may have found the key to raising student grades. And an "F" policy could be coming to a school near you.
Haskell Middle School at 81st and Lynn Lane, started the pilot program this year to give students some motivation to work harder. Grades are calculated every week. If you're failing any of your classes, you can't participate in any school-sponsored extra-curricular activities.
Everything from school plays to football games to field trips are off limits. Haskell Middle School principal Philip Tucker: "we're just trying to instill in kids a good work ethic and let them know we care but let em know there are consequences if they choose poorly and don't do their work."
Many area high schools already require students to make the grade to participate in school sponsored extra-curricular events. But starting next year, Broken Arrow is expanding the program to include all middle school students also.
