Northeastern Oklahoma drivers may experience a little shock at the gas pump. Gas is now at record high prices.
A gallon of gas went up to $2.13 at many stations around Tulsa Wednesday night. Everyone will feel the pinch. But the price jump is especially hard on those who drive for a living.
Taxi cab drivers like Keith Smith pay for their own gas and higher prices can really cut into their profits. "It gets real discouraging and that’s when you have to really push hard and drive many more hours than you really want to."
Cab drivers have a guaranteed fare of $3.50. If they get only that minimum amount, they have to make at least 10 runs just to pay for that day's gas.
