Filings steady as Oklahoma income tax deadline nears

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Barely three weeks before the deadline, state Tax Commission workers are bracing for the annual avalanche of income tax returns filed by Oklahomans who wait until the last minute.
As of Wednesday, the state had received 631,525 income tax returns.
About 1.5-million returns are filed each year, meaning about 900,000 are expected to be filed by the April 15th deadline.
The commission has hired temporary workers to keep up with the anticipated load.
