NEW YORK (AP) _ Gloria Borger has rejoined CBS News as the network's national political correspondent, CBS said Monday.

Borger, who'll continue writing the ``On Politics'' column for U.S. News & World Report, had been working as co-host of ``Capital Report'' on NBC and as a special correspondent for NBC News.

Before her stint at NBC, she had joined CBS News in 1997 as a regular panelist on ``Face the Nation.''

``She'll really beef up our Washington coverage, especially on Capitol Hill, which is something we're determined to do,'' said Bob Schieffer, interim anchorman of the ``CBS Evening News.''
