Single-vehicle accidents killed two people early Saturday, including a 19-year-old Lexington man whose car ran off a Cleveland County road, authorities said.
Toby Eugene Sweeney was driving a car south on the road at a high rate of speed about 1:51 a.m. when he lost control and it ran off the road, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
The vehicle overturned two to three times before striking a pole. Sweeney wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the wreckage, troopers said.
In McCurtain County, 25-year-old Joe Wade Miller was killed in an accident on Oklahoma Highway 3 around 2:37 a.m.
Miller's truck ran off the road and struck a mailbox before he overcorrected and traveled off the other side of the road, the patrol said.
The truck rolled and struck a tree, throwing Miller out and pinning him under the truck.
He suffered massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Miller wasn't wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
