Someone broke into a Tulsa restaurant that's still under construction. There wasn't much to steal, but there was plenty to destroy.
News on 6 reporter Joshua Brakhage says vandals broke in and basically tore up Señor Tequila near 33rd and Peoria.
The restaurant's still under construction so there were tools, and paint cans lying around. The restaurant's owner says they slopped paint everywhere.
Inside, the damage is even worse. The folks who broke in tried to smash every window inside. They broke all but two of them. They also tore down three expensive chandeliers that hung in front of the bar. The ceiling fans now hang in their place.Restaurant owner
Carlos Atilano says he also found a phone book in the bathroom that vandals tried to use as fuel to start a fire. It's all added to the time and costs of construction, but Atilano is not letting it deter him from opening in a few weeks. "I have to block it, I have to block it from my thinking, and I have to keep on moving forward, you know? I cannot stop and give it too much thought, I just have to move forward on this and try to accomplish my project as soon as possible."
That break-in happened about two weeks ago, but vandals struck again. They painted Satanic symbols throughout the building and started a flood.
Atilano says Brookside is still where he wants to be. He says it's the most fun place in town, and no vandals will change his mind.
