OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Senate gives the OK to a measure to require anyone under age 18 to wear helmets while riding all terrain vehicles.

The bill by Oklahoma City state Senator Bernest Cain now goes to the state House for consideration.

Cain says statistics show wearing helmets while riding ATV's can reduce deaths by 42 percent and non-fatal head injuries by 64 percent.

Recreational vehicles used for agricultural purposes would be exempt from the proposed law.
