State Senate approves funding for OU diabetes research center

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A measure providing $15-million to start a world-class diabetes research and treatment center was passed without opposition in the Oklahoma Senate.
The measure now goes to state House for consideration.
University of Oklahoma President David Boren, a diabetes patient, has pushed for approval of the plan.
He said it would make the state a national leader in diabetes research and treatment.
