Texas oilman and OSU grad Boone Pickens is one of the nation's most generous philanthropists.

The online magazine Slate ranked the 60 top philanthropists.

Pickens was fifth on the list. He recently donated $165-million to OSU. His donations last year totaled more than $229-million.

Other names on the list you might recoginze include Bill Gates, David Rockefeller, Ted Turner and Oprah Winfrey.
