Two Tulsa Police officers and neighbors are being credited with rescuing a man from his burning apartment.

It happened at the Delaware Gardens Apartments near 51st and Delaware Thursday afternoon. Officers kicked in a door, and with the help of neighbors got the man downstairs. He was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.

Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles: "he's very fortunate. The fire was spreading fast. Getting him out with that kind of time was very good for him."

The damage to two apartments is estimated at about $75,000. The fire started in a bedroom.

Firefighters are still trying to figure out the cause of the blaze.
