OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Testimony began Tuesday in the embezzlement and perjury trial of former state Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher.
Fisher is accused of embezzling $1,000 from his own campaign and putting the money into his overdrawn personal bank account. He's accused of perjury for not disclosing the donation on his state campaign reports.
Fisher says he's not guilty because he intended to use the money to explore a possible run for the US Senate.
The donation came from Mississippi insurance company owner Johnny Morgan and Morgan is to testify. Morgan has given conflicting statements in the past about how he intended for the money to be used.
